HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) was created following the merger of the Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise Departments in 2005. We currently employ around 65,000 people of whom around 20,000 are members of the Sports Association called Revenue and Customs Sports and Leisure (RCSL).
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) was created following the merger of the Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise Departments in 2005. We currently employ around 65,000 people of whom around 20,000 are members of the Sports Association called Revenue and Customs Sports and Leisure (RCSL).Although HMRC retains policy responsibility for Customs, most of the front line work is performed by the UK Border Force, which is an agency of the Home Office. UK membership of ECSA is maintained primarily through RCSL but with input from the UK Border Force Sports body. The UK Border Force has its own events and its members have participated in ECSA Table Tennis, Cycling, Volleyball and Swimming.
Sport plays a very big part in the fabric of both Departments; RCSL has a flagship event each year, National Sports Weekend, involving over 900 members at any one time. We also have over 35 different sports activities in organised sections or smaller sports clubs.
The UK regularly organises Cycling competitions and has also organised Swimming, Golf and Tenpin Bowling events on behalf of ECSA and the UK actively participates in many events, including the Nijmegen Marches, Tenpin Bowling, Running Events, Volleyball and Football.
The Secretary Role is currently held by the UK.
